Lasting Memories #211

Good evening..

This week is the second challenge of themes that I have chosen for the Lasting Memories challenge blog..

This week I chose something very near and dear to my heart, your heart, everybodies heart!!!  FRIENDS

#211 – Beauty of Friendship

photo 3

Now this theme is very much open for interruption however you wish.. You may wish to do a layout with you and your friends, your children’s friends, “man’s best friend” your pet or what we call in our house “bed friends” which are my boys teddy bears that they sleep with at night… Honestly, it can be anything! Does your husband like his car or golf clubs more than you? lol.. Do you enjoy your paper collection more than you like your husband most days?!?  lol.. Be open, let your mind be free and craft with imagination!

I chose to use a photo of the Bridesmaids shoes at my best friends wedding last year.. To me, this is one of the most beautiful adventures and moments shared between friends when you’ve be asked to be included in someone else’s special day..

I would like to mention that I had some major inspiration for this layout from a fellow Aussie crafter! Thanks to Kylie for giving me permission to Scrap Lift this design.. :)  Hers is much more gorgeous than mine, however I do intend on practicing and playing more with this design and getting some more layouts one just like it! :)

Lasting Memories #210

Look, I’m actually on time for this one! lol..

This week’s challenge over at the Lasting Memories blog starts my month long theme choices.. So I hope you all like them and will play along.. Remember you have the whole month of OCTOBER to link up your entry to any or all of the October challenges…

#210 – Nature’s Glory..

Here in Australia, especially where I live in the Central part of Queensland, Spring is when God comes to town for chill time.. Seriously, I say this often, I know this is God’s Country cause it’s PARADISE!
** However I know in the USA and Canada you all get amazing Fall (Autumn) weather… I have seen many fabulous photos of this time of year over there, so thought this would be a great challenge theme no matter where in the world you are..
Don’t forget it can a winter or summer photo…

— OR —-

Take a leap and go the other side of the scale with nature and feature an ANIMAL…  (Pet, Wildlife or Zoo animal..  your choice!)

photo 1 (2)

I have sorta featured BOTH with my photo on this layout.. This is the beautiful beach here in Yeppoon and a couple of Seagulls enjoying the sand beneath their feet.. lol..

photo 2 (2)

There is actually something a bit different on this layout that I thought myself a little bit clever for figuring out.. lol..
I have used this piece of light cardboard with the patterns of the collection on it as part of the packaging, I just knew that is what I wanted to use..
I think it adds the element of unique while still allowing the photo to the “winner” of the page…

What do you think??
Have you used PACKAGING on your layouts before??

Thanks very much for dropping by today.. I can’t wait to see what you create, so please so link up your page to the Lasting Memories challenge blog.. Thanks, Toni.. xoxo

Very Proud sporting photos to scrap soon!

I just couldn’t wait to show you all some of my favourite photos of this season of my big boy Lane playing footy and the start to this season’s swimming..

He plays AFL in the local clubs u11 team, however he was chosen to play up a team and represent in the u13 team..
He plays as a Forward Pocket.. So he’s little, quick and can kick!   :)
The team WON the Grand Final! and their couch not only for the local regional Couch of the Year, he also got the STATE CotY.. So that’s is super exciting for the club.. The u13 Captain won the Best & Fairest for the regional league and our Full Forward won top Goal kicker of the year for regional league too!! So flippin excited and proud of all the boys!!!!!

Now onto a couple of Lane’s photos from the winter carnival he did… First is of Breast stroke in action, the second photo is him in motion of his beloved Backstroke… This week he has a Development clinic and a carnival this weekend.. He is aiming to qualify for State Champs this season (Feb 2015).. Hopefully he can clock his times early this weekend so there is no pressure on him later on..

Lane Herron - swimming photo - 2014

Last photo is actually of ME.. :)
I was very proud, overwhelmed, humbled and speechless to receive the Junior Club person of the year.. Basically it’s recognising all my work for the past 6yrs that I’ve done in relation mostly to the Junior section of the Club… I was truly shocked!!
I had no idea that I was getting this! The gentleman with me is the Junior Vice-President of the club and who I have basically taken over a lot of responsibilities for over the years.. It’s been a LONG time since anyone said some really, really nice things about me, so it was even more special to me than what a lot of people may have realised.. It finally clicked about halfway thru the introduction speech that I was the recipient.. lol..

Tonight I was surprised to have been chosen as the YAFC Junior Club person of the year.. I was a little overwhelmed with this acknowledgement as I truly had no idea until half way through the introduction speech that I was the recepicant..
For the past 6 years I've loved being apart of the Swans! Every season I become so proud of the players and it's been wonderful seeing them progress through the teams... I'm excited for the future too with Lane moving up properly into the u13's side and Hunter finally being able to join in the u7's, we still have many years ahead..
Thank you Birdie, thank you Swannies! Very proud and humbling moment!! I was speechless (which says alot! lol)... :)

Lasting Memories #209

Welcome back friends.. Tonight I’m excited to share with you another DT make for the Lasting Memories challenge blog..
I have been playing “catch up” a little bit lately as I just haven’t really had the urge to craft.. I’ve very much wanted to! I’ve had loads of inspiration! But had trouble actually making anything I liked.. However I am quite pleased with how this one turned out and am happy to share this one with you..

209 – Fall / AUTUMN colours

photo 3

This is what I started out with…. BUUUUUT, just wasn’t feeling it..

photo 2

So I grabbed out some basic cardstock in the pastel theme colours and started again..

photo 1 (3)

The end result resulted in being a nice mixture of the two..  :)

I kept to the pastel colours for this as I really wanted to have a nice “airy” feel to the page.. However the dark brown ribbon helps to harden it just enough to be a boys page..

On the left under the button is my journaling.. The boys made their own little group circle at my nephew’s christening a couple months ago.. It was very cute.. The all loved playing and chatting together.. (there is a couple of them missing from this photo as they were kicking the soccer ball together)..

I love the mixture of flowers and cogs on boys pages.. I don’t care what people say, I love flowers on boy pages.. Then on the right are some scrolled papers.. I’ve seen quite a bit of this technique lately, so it has me thinking, IS IT BACK IN TREND AGAIN?!?

Crafting: with a sick little man style...  While making this, unfortunately my little man Hunter wasn’t feeling well.. Asthma was hitting hard yesterday! With some temps and loss of appetite too.. Thankfully today is much better and ate enough to catch up for what he missing out on yesterday.. lol..

This is what a rainy school holiday day looks like in our house... One little sick boy (who's Asthma is in full force) and one big brother keeping him happy with their faces deep into the gaming world.. Still in their pj's chilling on the bed... Argh well, at least I got something done in my craft room... :)  Here’s another pic taken earlier in the day.. Lane and Hunter on school holidays with their faces in the games…. APPLE you can be both a saviour and a devil in our house at times.. lol..
Since Hunter was sick, Lane was trying to keep him happy.. Poaring rain outside and it gave me a little time in my craft room.. So I might not be winning any Mother of the Year awards, but I didn’t moan at them like I usually would..

Anyway, don’t forget you have until the end of the week to get your layout in for ALL of this months challenges.. So please drop on over to the Lasting Memories challenge blog for more info and the LINKY.. :)

Lasting Memories #208

Howdy there folks..
Looky Looky Looky what I have finally found.. Here is my DT layout for the Lasting Memories challenge released last week, (entry open until the end of the month, so you still have time to link up!)
I actually made this layout months ago, but had lost it amongst the pile and forgot about it.. oops..

208 – add leaves

photo 1 righto, so I know your probably looking at this layout and thinking “WHAT WAS SHE THINKING?! TAKE SOMETHING OFF.. NO WAIT, TRASH THE WHOLE LOT!”…  lol..   But hang on, I have to admit that this layout looks atrocious in this photo, however looks quite good in real life, thankfully! lol..

You can see that I have added the leaves to the bottom of the flower cluster…

The photo is of my little man Hunter and I at a wedding a few years ago.. He was having quite a bad allergenic reaction that night, so all night at the reception people kept saying, “aww poor sweetheart”, so therefore I made that my title..

Actually as I sit here typing this, Hunter now 4yrs old is laying next me again unwell.. All sorts of sad noises coming from him and all I can think is “awww poor sweetheart!”..

As mentioned above, you still have time to link your entry up for this challenge! So head on over to the Lasting Memories challenge blog for more info..

Lasting Memories – # 207

Welcome back scrappers..
Last week the Lasting Memories challenge #207   – LET’s CELEBRATE was opened.. I actually forgot to share my DT layout with you all..

The challenge is open until the end of the month for you to link up to, so let’s get scrapping and share your Celebration with us!

I went back to basics with this layout.. Nothing I did was working as I had pictured in my head..
I went through several base backgrounds and different embellishment ideas, til I finally gave up and made it a simple basic layout.. And it actually turned out pretty nice! :)

The photo is celebrating the Christening of my gorgeous little nephew…

I would love to see your entry into this challenge and the rest of the challenges for this month too… So please drop on by the challenge blog to check out the details.. :)

I have been stalking many challenge blogs lately and am SO keen to get back into some scrapping, but the motivation is few and fair between… I want to, but just don’t do it for some reason.. I suppose it’s a “life getting in the way of crafting” thing… lol..

Don’t forget that you can join my over at my FaceBook page to keep up to date with any projects that I do get around to doing.. :)

Next had to be a Masculine theme.. Struggling a little bit with TOO many ideas.. lol..

Here are a couple of close ups of my layout..

Since I wanted to use so many photos on this layout, I came up with a grid effect to showcase them all..
