Welcome back crafty friends… Here is my second DT reveal for the night.. This time over at the Lasting Memories layout challenges blog!
This week’s challenge is now up and open!
#116 – Naked Layout
This week we would like to see LAYOUTS NAKED! So that would mean NO PHOTOS! (phewww… No nudie photos being linked on the net! lol… )
As soon as I received the details for this challenge, I knew EXACTLY what I was going to use….. As most of you know I recently lost my Nan.. She was the most truly gentle, loving, caring, soft and adorable lady I have ever known! I am so blessed to have the honour of knowing that I am her Grand-child!
So with her in mind, I dedicated this layout to a poem by Amanda Stickler that my cousin Aleesha and I read at her funeral service.. *We adjusted a few of the words to fit our family..
THE LOVELIEST ANGEL OF ALL
My Nan as an Angel sent from heaven, God sent us all down to share,
He gave us the chance to love her, And feel the comfort of having her there.
He gave us a gift more valuable, Than diamonds, silver or gold,
He gave us the loveliest Angel of all, To cherish and to hold.
God Felt our pain in taking her, We would forgive in time he knew,
And accept that our Angel, Had done all she came to do.
She had found the other half of her, Loved three children endlessly,
Watched them grow and fall in love, And then a Nan she was so proud to be!
Her family grew larger each year, And each she loved so much,
And so when God came to take her home, She wasn’t in a rush.
She showed us all her strength and love, By fighting hard to stay,
So God sent down those she’d loved and lost, To show her it’s ok.
And as we cry at saying Goodbye, There are those beyond sight but near,
Our loved ones who are already home, will be shouting “Look she’s here”.
So let us all smile and wipe our tears, And rejoice that we knew her at all,
For as a Gift God lent us, The loveliest Angel of ALL!
The papers I used were from a Prima “Fairy Bella” collection about 6 months ago.. I have been holding onto these papers for something so super special it would do them justice! The moment I thought about this layout, I knew nothing else would be good enough!!! I knew this was the one to use them on! This was the one I had been saving them for all along without knowing!
I very rarely “fussy cut”, but this layout called out for me to step up my style a notch and have the patience… So glad I did, because it me, it all fits beautifully!
My Nan always loved and owned a little bird.. So even better was the Bird & Cage on the PP, so I added that one with a Prima flower and charms too..
I’m not sure if its because of all the emotions…….. But I honestly couldn’t be more proud of this page! I know that sounds silly cause I made it.. But seriously I haven’t been this proud of a page ever I think!
Its a simply designed page that focus’s on exactly what it has to!
I wrote out each verse of the poem onto separate die cut sheets to make it into a note pad thing, finished off with twine and a couple of brown pearl dots.
*I also have her Eulogy to transfer into a layout too sometime, however after how emotionally draining this was to make (and even this post as I’m typing it), I think that page may have to wait a little while until I have the time to sit and focus on just that again!
Sorry, it’s a big post this week, but I truly hope you all enjoyed this layout and have gained some inspiration from it!
